Then season 2 comes around and changes Dracula's character in a way that's jarring, his conflict with Trevor is ignored entirely, the Church becomes irrelevant for some reason and focus shifts from the main trio to a bunch of really forgettable villains (with one exception, and for the wrong reasons). Season 1 sets up a duality between Trevor Belmont and Dracula, a fantastic and oppressive atmosphere, and a main crew that's going to defeat this powerful and intimidating vampire king. I'd say it's good overall, but each new season doesn't really connect thematically with the previous one(a) and that hurts the show a lot. The game could have been great if they had just focused on the present day portion, rather than going back to this dream Castle that literally doesn't even mean anything at all, other than being a momentary distraction to just pop back out in the real world and go 'oh boy here I am again!' Horrendously muddled plot, garbage mandatory stealth sections, exceptionally limited environments for an idea that had so much potential, and a mediocre combat systen with less depth than a kiddy pool. LOS2 is an objectively bad game, even without being a Castlevania game. The 3DS title was also really fun, felt like a good throwback game while keeping the vibe of the newer ones. Decent enough bosses, they had cool designs, but the Shadow of the Collossus bits sucked. I think LOS 1 was a genuinely fun time, decent story, good combat (even though it felt like a heavier clunkier God Of War at the time tbh) pretty sweet puzzles and level design and a great soundtrack too.
